Quickly, the pilot and two assistants waiting for him in the hangar refuel his small two-seater single-engine plane before leaving for the third and last flight of the day, which covers a few thousand kilometers over the southeast of the country in search of fire outbreaks along a route determined by the Forest Fire Protection Operation. The dangers of the banana industry in Ecuador

Ecuador is the world’s leading exporter of bananas, with 37 million boxes in 2020. However, human and labor rights violations, chemical contamination and the destruction of ecosystems contrast with the economic success of this agribusiness. See the full report in El Salto (Spain).
